David Dusan Swaby, 49, of Sandston, passed away unexpectedly on December 25, 2024. Born December 30, 1974 in Florence, South Carolina to the late Hazel Elliott Mattox and David Swaby, he is survived by his loving children, India Swaby (Elias Barnes), Deja Swaby, Sharelle Jackson, David Swaby Jr, David Q Swaby, Meoshe Swaby, Christian Page, Marley Swaby, Lauren Swaby, and Kimora Swaby; grandchildren, Muhammad Barnes, Zayid Barnes, Asiya Barnes, and Maryam Barnes; Godchildren, Terry Archer and Tegiona Archer; siblings from his mother, Warren Mitchell, Tony Mitchell, Keisha Elliott, Carolyn Christmas, Brittany Elliott, Liza Elliott, Freddrick Elliott, and Hazel Elliott; siblings from father, Cassandra Swaby Williamson, Eric Swaby, Janet Swaby, Olive Swaby, Nicole Swaby, Eva Mae Allen Gamble, Anthony Swaby, Nerrisa Swaby, Angela Davis, Kizzy Jackson, and Jaslyn Swaby; uncles from mother, Roscoe Harper, and Quincy Harper; aunts and uncles from father, Evelyn Smith, Narissa Brooks, and Sylvia Bennett; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by aunts and uncles on father's side, Avonia Swaby Beckford, Asbert Swaby, George Swaby, Adolphus Swaby and on mother's side Roland Harper. David received his education from the High School of Graphic Communication Arts in downtown Manhattan. He worked many years for South East Frozen Foods as a Manager, and recently for TransAxle. He loved watching movies, mostly sci-fi, and searching for more knowledge. He also loved going fishing and enjoyed hanging with the fellows having a good laugh and serious conversations. He will be missed dearly by many and remembered by many that he touched.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday, January 10, 2025 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Graveside services will be held 11 am Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Oakwood Cemetery.
