Daniel J. Boyle, on May 3, 2021, at the age of 97, made his final surrender to Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Dan was married for 67 years to his childhood sweetheart, Jane E. Boyle. Their words of wisdom for a loving marriage were, “Say ‘I love you’ every day, always show respect, and never go to bed angry.” Dan follows the love of his life and oldest child, Daniel J. Boyle, II, into heaven. Together Jane and Dan have five children and their spouses, 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Dan was a loving, compassionate, and generous son, husband, father, in-law, uncle, and friend. Dan contributed to the education of military pilots, both as instructor pilot and as a curriculum developer in the Army Air Corps and then the Air Force. His last assignment in the Air Force was as commander of ROTC at St. Joseph’s College. After retirement, he was the first lay Dean of Students and the Director of Operations at St. Joseph’s College. Later he worked at the University of Pennsylvania as the Facility Director of the high rise housing. After moving to San Antonio, TX, Dan was in several leadership positions at Air Force Village 1.

Dan was the oldest child of Claire and Alexander Boyle, growing up with his four brothers during the depression in Hagerstown, MD. Dan, together with Jane, made the dinner table a safe place to discuss the day’s events and pray for those who touched their lives. Dan and Jane had a deep faith in the power of prayer. They have prayed for all those who came into their lives and will continue to pray for us.
