With great sorrow the Hitchcock family announces the passing of Christopher Colin Hitchcock at the young age of 49, on August 18, 2024.

He left us so early because he wanted to get ahead to save us a seat. That was just the person he was. He was fiercely protective of his family and could always be counted on to do the right thing for those he loved and respected. He was born in 1975 in Varina/ Henrico, VA where he lived with the exception of a few years spent in Omak, Washington. Colin followed in his father’s footsteps as a dedicated and well-respected electrician. He was proud of his union affiliation in the Local 666 and spent the last years of his career in a position he cherished at Hauni/Körber Technologies, where he was loved by all who knew him.

Christopher is survived by his father, Richard E. Hitchcock (Gayle Thompson); mother, Alice Barnes Fenaux; half-brother, James Powell Jr. (Stephanie); and stepbrothers, John M. Thompson and Robert S. Thompson; in addition to his young daughter, Haylee May Hitchcock; and stepdaughter, Breeanna Bew. His aunts, uncle, and many cousins are left to mourn this devastating loss and help his family deal with the grief of losing him far too soon. Colin was predeceased by his grandparents, Carlyle E. and Bernadine Lassiter Hitchcock, and Marvin E. and Hazel Davis Barnes, who we know are welcoming him with love and open arms.

Colin loved hunting, boating, fishing, music, and most of all, his family and friends, who we know will miss him dearly.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 23, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home on Laburnum Ave.
