Charles Ross Turner, 100, of Henrico, Virginia passed away peacefully at his home with his loving and faithful daughter by his side on June 23, 2023.

He was born on January 9, 1923 in Montpelier, Virginia to Allen Thurman and Lucinda Brooks Turner. He was the youngest of three.

As a boy, Charles loved to hunt. He would return home with a bounty for his family and an interesting tale of his adventures.

Charles served in World War II. He landed on the beaches of Normandy, where he served overseas until the war ended. Charles worked for Richmond Linen Service. He enjoyed the open road and friendly faces he met along the way.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Bettie Gray, and his son, Jeffrey Charles Turner.

He is survived by his son, Daniel Ross Turner; his daughter, Carolyn Turner Booth (Eddie); seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Charles was a loving and devoted father. He will be remembered for his kindness and great love for humanity.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
