WHITTINGTON, Carl B., 89, of Henrico, formerly of Chester, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father Zelma Carl Whittington and his mother Mertie Felts Whittington. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Harry Lee Whittington, John Cloyd Whittington, James Thomas Whittington, Melvin Dean Whittington and his sisters Ann Mae Mabe, Jessie Ruth Anderson, Hazel Marie Basl, and Ruby Lois Long.

He was in the Navy during the Korean conflict and then had a long career in the banking industry. After retiring, he stayed active with home construction and property investments. He was heavily invested with the Shriners as a member of the Blandford Lodge no. 3, where for many years participated in the mini patrol unit. He loved baseball and over the years played for many local teams. He also had a love for Labrador Retrievers. For many years, Major and Rusty were his beloved companions. Carl was devoted to his Christian faith and is now residing in his eternal home.

He is survived by sister, Shirley Pennington; sister-in-law, Laura Whittington of Texas, many nieces, and nephews; and a large circle of extended family and friends. Interment will be private. Carl spent his last years at the Masonic Home of Virginia where he received kind and compassionate care. His nieces Donna Tuck and Diane Gay remained close with him until the end, lending a helping hand when needed and visiting him often. He made their lives richer with his quick wit, his stories of days gone by, and his analysis of current events! Carl will be remembered for his generosity and the laughter he brought to everyone around him. He will be greatly missed.
