Betty Jean Zartarian Duke, 72, of Henrico, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Memorial Regional Hospital. She was preceded into heaven by her parents, Mushak and Alice Zartarian. She is also preceded by her step-mother, Ruby Zartarian. She is survived by her husband and soulmate of 23 years, Patrick Duke; daughter, Daphne Roberts (David); sons, Larry Madison (Stephanie), and Jeremy Vincent Krause (Estela); grandchildren, Mark, Seth, Justice, Mary, Lorien, Lana; and great-grandchildren, Saylor and Lyla. Betty was adopted and lived at St. Josephs Villa where her deep love for religion and art flourished. She was an avid volunteer for her community where she was a committed advocate for social justice. She was known for being a free spirit and putting “Faith into action”. Betty was often commissioned by the Catholic Diocese of Richmond to create paintings to help serve her community. Her husband and children would say that Betty was always willing to help people in need and never knew a stranger. She served at many places like the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Westminster Canterbury, and the Virginia State Penitentiary, better known as Spring Street. Betty was the happiest when she was holding a paint brush or spending time with her family. Though she is no longer with us and will be greatly missed, her soul will be eternally at peace in Heaven.

A Mass Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 10, 2023 located at Church of the Redeemer – 8275 Meadowbridge Rd. Mechanicsville, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to be made to Catholic charities.
