Betty G. Akins,78, resident of Sandston for 49 years, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025.
She graduated from Radford University and was a retired accountant with the State of Virginia.
She was a member of AGA, Operation Catnip and Virginia Voice and enjoyed her pets, horse racing, receipt collecting and scanning, flag collecting and displaying and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Ayres; father, Arnold Zead Gunter; and brother, Richard Gunter and is survived by her son, Craig Akins.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231.
