Bowles, Bettie Henley, age 83, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family in Henrico, Va. on Sunday May 28, 2023, after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. Bettie’s family, friends and colleagues will cherish their memories of happy times with her for many years to come.

Bettie was proud to be part of the 2nd graduating class of Douglas Freeman High School and worked for many years at Ceridian LLC, retiring in 1994.

Bettie enjoyed spending her free time attending dance recitals/sporting games for her grandchildren, craft shows, and playing slots at Rosie’s. She loved sewing, listening to bluegrass music, and ice-cream (she made a mean chocolate milkshake).

She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar (Buddy) T. Bowles Jr. and parents, Mary and Edward Henley. She is survived by two daughters, Sherrie McShaw, and Becky Milton (Buddy); eight grandchildren, Cassie, Sierra, Max, Kaila, Lola, Heather (Bobby), Elizabeth (Mike) and Robbie (Taylor); five great grandchildren Alyssa, Ayva, Bryson, Ava and Kaiden; lifelong friends Mary Lanum and Dennis Vestal.

Arrangements have been made with Woody’s Funeral Home for a visitation on Friday, June 2nd from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. A service will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at Woody’s Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd, at 10 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 12609 Patterson Ave.
