Barbara Jane Gray Durrette, 84, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023, in Henrico. She was born on August 28, 1939, in Sylvatus, VA to the late Virginia Sayers “Gray” Goad and Archie Webb Gray. Barbara is survived by her three children, Tarleton Bleece Durrette Jr., Anthony Glenn Durrette (Peggy Sue), and Gregory Todd Durrette; four grandchildren, Anthony Michael Durrette (Erika Durrette), Andrew Glen Durrette, Tarleton “Tre” Bleece Durrette III, and Brandon Todd Durrette; two great-grandchildren, Mason Bleece Durrette and Aiden Wilhelm Durrette; step granddaughter, Tasha Blakley; two step great- grandchildren, Camden Blakley, and Bryce Blakley; four siblings, Lilian G Gold, Donald W Gray, David E Gray, and Archie (Wayne) W Gray; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish her memory and greatly miss her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tarleton Bleece Durrette Sr. in 2008; daughter-in-law, Sheri Meade Durrette in 2021; and three of her siblings, Janet Lorraine Gray in 1953, Patricia “Pat” G Carr, William “Billy” R Gray Sr. and Christopher "Chris" F Goad Sr. Barbara was well-known for her deep love for her family, her strong work ethic, her caring for the elderly, her spotless home, and her cooking skills. Her absence will be deeply felt by her family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know her. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where services will be held 11 am Saturday, October 21, 2023. Interment will follow in Hanover Memorial Park.
