Obituary - Barbara Funai Prokopis

Prokopis, Barbara Funai, 89 of Glen Allen, passed away peacefully at home June 24, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Prokopis of Winston-Salem North Carolina, son, Nick, brothers, Vernon, Robert, Jackie and William; sisters, Catherine, Beulah and Anna. She is survived by her daughter, Tonia Dowell; sons, John Jr. (Lisa), Gus (Bonnie) and Chris (Tammy); grandchildren, Stacy, Taylor, Alexa, Jonathan (Vannessa), Nathan Braxton (Michelle), and great-grandchildren, Lily, Ben and Cheyenne. She graduated from John Marshall HS in 1950 where she played softball and basketball. She retired from Henrico County after driving a school bus for 40 years. She loved traveling and spent all of her spare time outside planting flowers and tending to her yard. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the care given by the nurses and staff with At Home Care. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2nd, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. in Richmond followed by a service at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Barbara to the American Diabetes Association.
