Anna “Ann” Dimmitt, 86, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital on Monday, January 9, 2023. She suffered a stroke late on New Year’s Eve and responded very little during her nine days in the hospital. Ann was born in Monticello, IN, on December 10, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Robert G. Williams and the late Mary Young. She graduated from Roosevelt High School on May 27, 1955. On May 27, 1956, in Monticello, she married her husband of 66 years, Harold Dimmitt.

Ann was a devoted housewife, not working out of the home until their youngest child was in high school. For several years she was an office manager for a Christian psychologist. She was a skilled teacher of children and used her gift generously in the church her husband pastored. When Harold became a jail chaplain, she became very involved in grading Bible lessons for the inmates, keeping track of their progress and typing certificates for lessons completed. When he retired from the jail ministry, he became an associate pastor for seniors at Goodwill Baptist Church and Ann began teaching the senior women’s Bible class on Sunday mornings for 12 years until her health would not allow her to continue.

Ann is survived by her loving family: husband, Harold Dimmitt; son, Bob Dimmitt (Cindy) of Savannah, GA; daughters, Kathy Ah Sing (Claude) of Buckeye, AZ; Christi Bacon (Bob) of Sandston, VA; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great, great-grandchild; and one sister, Janice (Williams) Evans of Dallas, TX.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, with a visitation at 10:00 AM and the funeral service at 11:00 am at Goodwill Baptist Church, 8701 Hungary Spring Road, Henrico, VA 23228. Pastor Bob Dimmitt and Pastor Leroy Davis will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann’s memory can be made to the Goodwill Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
