Ann Marie Schaefer Waring, 94, died August 24, 2022 in her retirement home at Cedarfield. She was preceded in death by husband, Burnet Waring; mother, Mary Schaefer; father, Keith Schaefer; and son-in-law, Stuart Freedlander. She is survived by her two children, son, Burney “Burnet” Waring and wife, Deborah; daughter, Mary Freedlander; five grandchildren, Jessica Russell, Justin Waring, Wyatt Waring, Matthew Freedlander and Nicholas Freedlander; three great grandchildren, Caroline, Indiana and Theo.

Mrs. Waring was a Richmonder all of her life and the only child of Mary Schaefer and Keith Schaefer. She was born in Church Hill and graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy. She worked at MCV as a medical secretary. She met Burnet on a blind date arranged by Burnet’s scout troop. They lived in the West End and were members of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. They later moved to Varina and lived on the family farm for the next 13 years before moving to a condo in the West End. They moved to Cedarfield in September 1996, the first month it opened.

A private graveside service was held at Holy Cross Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held at Cedarfield on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 2 p.m.
