Amos Cephas Johnson, 83, went home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2025 after a years long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

He was born September 11, 1941 in Willow Spring, North Carolina to the late Josephus and Edith Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his sister Sarah Nell Weaver and her husband Granville Weaver and his brother Richard Johnson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Judy Johnson, his three children, Travis Johnson, Myra Keener (Brian), and Megan Cox (Brian); his two grandchildren, Christopher Keener (Zoe) and Douglas Keener (Caroline); and his great-grandson, Hudson Keener.

He met his wife, Judy at Campbell University, where he received his Bachelor's Degree. He earned his Masters Degree from University of Virginia. Amos taught at Fairfield Middle School for 30 years. After retiring in 1996, he drove a bus for Henrico County for many years.

Amos enjoyed playing chess with his grandchildren. He enjoyed card games like Bridge and Rook with his friends. He loved gardening tuberoses and often gifted them to others. He loved working in his hay field and puttering with his tractors. He also attended the Joy Club at Goochland Baptist Church.

The family will receive visitors at Goochland Baptist Church from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025 with the service starting at 11:00. Internment will immediately follow at Goochland Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Goochland Baptist Church Missions Fund.
