Alma Lowry Dunkum passed away September 19, 2022. Alma had 95 great years on this earth and definitely lived each one to the fullest. She loved her family, extended family, friends, Lakewood Manor, and Derbyshire Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas Lowry and Bessie Baker Lowry; her brother, Henry C. Lowry; and her husband, Bennie L. Dunkum. She was a devoted wife to Bennie, a perfect mother to Craig and Mary Anne, a wonderful grandmother to Bryan and Lauren, Brandon and Jayne, Christina and Hunter and a proud great-grandmother of Jackson, Hank, Landon, Porter, Sophia and Reagan. She enjoyed playing Mahjong, dining with friends, visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, singing with the Golden Tones, watching the Braves and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing sports, listening to music and being independent. She always had a smile on her face, a kind word for all, a willingness to help, and advice on most subjects. She especially enjoyed creating homemade cards for the family for all special occasions by sharing her thoughts, memories and good wishes in a handwritten note. We all will miss her beautiful smile, her caring heart, her deep love, her friendship, and her special way of making everyone feel good about themselves. She was truly an angel on earth! There will be a celebration of Alma’s life at Derbyshire Baptist Church on Monday, October 10, 2022, beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by a visitation and reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation to Derbyshire Baptist Church in honor of Alma.
