Alma H. Bowman, 86, of Sandston, passed away gently in hospice at home on Thursday, October 27, 2022. She was a beloved wife, mom, and grandma.

Alma was born in Tazwell, Va. to the late Jesse and Ethel Mae Hart. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Scott; sister, Ola; brothers-in-law, Frank, Reese, Charlie; and sisters-in-law, Jean, Lou, Norma, Margaret.

Alma was a long-time member of Corinth UMC. She retired from Southern States at the age of 40 when her son, Chris, was born so that she could take care of the family and the home. Alma enjoyed bowling and relaxing at the beach. She loved to lay out in the sun, go shopping, and eat out at restaurants. She especially enjoyed trips to Nags Head, so much so that she actually purchased a beach house there so she could go as often as she desired. Alma enjoyed all that life had to offer and she will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her.

Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her wonderful caregivers: Brenda, Cathy, Lashell, Tracy, and Francina.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 5.
