Northern Henrico shooting leaves 1 woman dead, another seriously injured

It happened in the 2000 block of Montbrook Lane, in the Overlook at Brook Run apartment complex. Henrico Police responded to an apartment there after reports of a burglary. While they were en route, they received information about a shooting at that address.
When officers arrived, they found two women inside an apartment with gunshot wounds. One of the women, 34-year-old Shante Jones of Henrico, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she remains in critical condition.
Detectives are currently following up on leads in the investigation. The shooting remains under investigation, and no further information has been released.
