Henrico County Public Schools will be closed to students from Dec. 20-31, but a limited supply of take-home meals will be distributed Dec. 16, before the start of Winter Break. To help combat food insecurity over the break, HCPS’s Department of Family and Community Engagement — with help from HCPS students, central office staff and the Department of Workforce and Career Development — will distribute meals at Hermitage High School and the ACE Center at Highland Springs.

Each bag will contain an assortment of nonperishable items: three breakfasts, three lunches, three dinners and multiple snacks. Students enrolled in the culinary arts program and members of the Tech Ethics Society will help pack and distribute the food bags at both school sites.

Distribution will take place at the main entrance to Hermitage High School, 8301 Hungary Spring Road, and outside the cafeteria at the ACE Center at Highland Springs, 15 South Oak Avenue, from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

The Department of Family and Community Engagement also partners with individual schools and community organizations to connect families with essential resources on an "as needed" basis throughout the school year. For details, call (804) 226-5340.
