Nominations open for REB Award for Teaching Excellence

The Community Foundation has opened the nomination period for its REB Award for Teaching Excellence, which honors approximately 15 local Richmond-area teachers each year.

Anyone can nominate a Henrico County Public Schools teacher by Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. by visiting http://www.henricoschools.us and looking under the “Hot Topics” tab for details.

The annual awards are designed to recognize outstanding instructors and give them the means to continue growing. Honorees receive professional development grants, given to teachers who have distinguished themselves by their inspiring classroom performance. Grants for the winners been increased and range from $5,000 to $15,000; the money support professional development activities.

Nominations must be made online. A letter in support of the nomination must be written by another person and submitted online with the nomination.
