Nominations open for 2024 Virginia State Volunteerism and Community Service Awards

The awards are presented annually by Serve Virginia and the Virginia Service Foundation and honor four people and six organizations and businesses that volunteer their time to make a difference in their communities. Nominations are open through Tuesday, June 25, at 5 p.m. The 2024 winners will be announced at an in-person ceremony at the Executive Mansion in the fall. All winners also will also be featured on a website and social media.

"I am incredibly proud of this year's Governor’s Volunteerism and Community Service Award winners," said Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin. "Their dedication to serving our communities is truly inspiring. They embody the Spirit of Virginia and represent the best that Virginia has to offer; we are a better Commonwealth because of them."

The awards honor people and groups in the following categories:• Individual, youth (aged 18 and under)• Individual, young adult (aged 19-30)• Individual, adult (aged 31-59)• Individual, senior (aged 60+)• Independent Group (family, friends, or other informal group)• Community organization (nonprofit or government)• Faith-based group (spiritual community)• Educational organization (K-12 school or higher education institution)• Small business (for-profit, 0-50 employees)• Corporation (for-profit, 51+ employees).
