Members of the Association for the Preservation of Henrico Antiquities gathered Jan. 7 in Sandston to unveil a new tabletop marker that commemorates the history of the Meadows Fire Tower on Williamsburg Road.

The tower is the last of two located in the county that previously were used as fire lookouts. Today, the Meadows tower holds communications equipment. It sits on the property of the Antioch School Community Center at 5650 Elko Road.

Dr. Henry Nelson, president of Preservation Henrico, and Vee Davis are pictured (at top) unveiling the marker, a closeup of which appears below. Also pictured are members of the association posing with the marker.
