New COVID-19 cases in Henrico surpassed the 100-mark Wednesday for only the third day in the past two weeks, according to Virginia Department of Health data, and the county also reported two more COVID-related deaths.

Henrico’s 110 new cases were a jump up from the 33 and 46 that were reported Monday and Tuesday, but the increase wasn’t unexpected; new cases typically have been lower during the first two or three days each week, reflecting fewer testing encounters during the weekend. Henrico is now averaging 80 new cases per day during the past week.

Of the 15 virus-related deaths reported in Henrico during the first six days of October, two were people in their 30s, one in his or her 50s, two in their 60s, four in their 70s and six in their 80s.

Henrico’s seven-day positivity percentages among PCR testing encounters (5.4%) and rapid testing encounters (4.7%) are at their lowest levels since late July, and both are about 3% lower than the statewide averages.
