New daily confirmed COVID-19 cases in Henrico have slowed to just a trickle, according to Virginia Department of Health data. The county is averaging just 34 new daily cases during the past seven days and has witnessed four days with fewer than 30 new cases this month already – three of them in the past four days.

A total of 28 new cases were reported Nov. 10 in the county. The county reported three new virus-related hospitalizations in three days late last week, but a data correction then removed three hospitalizations from Henrico’s count Wednesday. (It’s unknown whether those three were the recent ones or reflected hospitalizations from several months ago.)

Six new COVID-related deaths, however, have been reported in the county since Monday, according to the VDH.

Henrico’s seven-day positivity percentage among both PCR and rapid testing encounters was just 3.7% as of Nov. 6, the most recent day available. The county remained in the “substantial” transmission risk level (the third of four risk levels as designated by the VDH) for the second straight week, after falling from the “high” transmission level, where it had been since the beginning of August.

More than 10 Virginia localities dropped into the “moderate” transmission risk level this week, and Henrico could do the same as soon as next week if current trends continue.

Nearly 203,500 Henricoans are now fully vaccinated; that’s about 61.5% of the county’s total population.
