Henrico County is averaging just 37 new daily COVID-19 cases during the past seven days, as it nears the end of a week during which no single day has witnessed more than 50 new cases.

The county reported 45 new cases Friday, two days after it witnessed 50, but the other four days this week have seen fewer than 40 new cases apiece.

Three new deaths attributed to the virus were reported by the Virginia Department of Health in the past two days, but the county hasn’t seen a COVID-related hospitalization since Oct. 29.

Henrico’s seven-day positivity percentage among PCR testing encounters (3.9%) is as low as it’s been since it was at that same level July 24.

Nearly 203,000 people in Henrico – or just more than 61% of the county’s overall population – are now fully vaccinated, according to the VDH. Almost 79% of the county’s adult population (those 18 and older) have received at least one dose of vaccine, and 72.5% of that age group is fully vaccinated.
