While cases begin to decline after a slight nationwide surge, Henrico County reported 46 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The county's seven-day moving average fell to 58 new cases reported daily.

The county reported three new hospitalizations and one new virus-related death, according to VDH data.

Henrico's PCR and antigen rapid tests are revealing higher rates of positivity, according to the VDH. As of April 17, antigen rapid tests reached an average positivity of 9.8 percent, while PCR tests yielded a rate of 6.1 percent. These percentages intentionally lag behind a few days to include as many testing encounters as possible.

More outbreaks in Henrico County have been reported this week, increasing the county’s total during the pandemic to 207, according to VDH data.

More than 220,000 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Henrico County, according to the VDH. More than 140,000 residents have received at least one dose, and a little more than 90,000 are fully vaccinated.

The majority of Henrico residents receiving the vaccine are within the 50-to-69 age range and more are female than male, according to VDH demographic data. In terms of race and ethnicity, 55,828 white residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine — compared with 17,803 Black residents, 5,133 Hispanic residents and fewer than than 900 Native American residents.

As of April 17, an average of 77,220 vaccine doses are being administered each day in Virginia. With more than 5.47 million doses administered across the state, one in four Virginians have been fully vaccinated, according to the VDH.
