New COVID-19 cases in Henrico dropped to 67 Wednesday, down from 86 Tuesday and 81 Monday. The county is now averaging 89 new daily cases during the past seven days, according to Virginia Department of Health data.

The county witnessed three new COVID-related hospitalizations Wednesday as well, the most on a single day since three were reported Aug. 6. It’s still averaging just one new daily hospitalization related to the virus during the past week.

No new deaths related to the virus among Henrico residents have been reported since Aug. 7.

Henrico remains in the “high” COVID-19 community transmission classification. The county’s seven-day positivity percentage among PCR tests was 8.1% as of Aug. 13 (slightly below the state average of 8.6%) but its rapid testing positivity percentage as of the same date of 10.5% was higher than the state average of 9.3%, according to the VDH.

Two-hundred seventy-six Henricoans received their first dose of COVID vaccine during the past two days, while 230 became fully vaccinated, according to the VDH.

In total, 61.6% of the county’s population (or 203,696 people) have had at least one dose of vaccine, while 55.3% (or 182,847 people) are now fully vaccinated.
