New COVID-19 cases in Henrico drop Thursday, but 2 new deaths reported

New COVID-19 cases in Henrico dropped Thursday to 115, down from 145 Wednesday, according to Virginia Department of Health data. The county is now averaging 113 new daily cases during the past seven days, on the lower end of the relative number it’s experienced since the last week of August.

For the second time in three days, the county reported two new virus-related deaths (the victims were in their 50s and 60s), and for the second straight day it reported two virus-related hospitalizations.

Henrico’s seven-day positivity percentage among PCR testing encounters during the seven days ending Sept. 5 was 9.6% – now lower than the state’s average of 10.3% – but its rapid testing encounter percentage as of the same date was 10.8%, higher than the state’s average of 8.6%.

About 300 Henricoans received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday, while just more than 420 became fully vaccinated, according to VDH data.
