Nearly 1,500 Henrico citizens have received the initial dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

A total of 1,484 county residents had received the vaccine as of Dec. 28. Statewide, 41,709 people had received the first dose so far, and state officials expect to have nearly 330,000 more doses in hand by the end of this week.

Among state localities, the highest number of vaccine doses (4,181) had been administered to residents of Fairfax County – the largest locality in Virginia. Virginia Beach was next with just about 1,800, then Chesterfield with nearly 1,700 and Roanoke County with more than 1,550.
