Richmond National Battlefield Park, in cooperation with the National Cemetery Administration, will host a Memorial Day ceremony Monday, May 29 at noon at the Fort Harrison National Cemetery, located at 8620 Varina Road in Varina. The event is free and open to the public.

This year’s event will focus on honoring those who have served and sacrificed, with a brief invocation offered by Kevin Johnson U.S. Navy Chaplin (retired), followed by a wreath laying ceremony.

This year’s event will be shorter in duration than past events, according to organizers. No seating will be available, and parking is limited at the site. Recent landscape enhancements at the cemetery may make walking in some areas difficult.
