Metro Richmond residents who reflect the area’s cultural diversity are encouraged to apply for My Henrico Academy, a leadership program designed to strengthen connections between the county and its multicultural communities while encouraging civic participation.
Now entering its fifth year, the free program offers up to 20 immigrant and descendant participants the opportunity to meet with county officials, tour facilities and deepen their understanding of local resources. The program is designed to demonstrate how Henrico’s government and residents work together to build a strong and vibrant community.
My Henrico Academy is open to residents from all localities. Applications will be accepted through Friday, Feb. 28.
The program is expected to begin in the spring and will include seven sessions held from 3:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on selected Thursdays at locations throughout the county. Participants will enjoy dinner, tour facilities and engage with officials and staff to learn about county operations and services, including employment, education and community resources.
More than 100 residents have graduated from My Henrico Academy since its inception in 2019, fostering a growing network of community ambassadors. The program is designed to bridge multicultural communities and promote relationships that transcend cultural boundaries and experiences. Participants gain insight into the county’s operations and resources and are empowered to share their knowledge and connections to support the community.
