DEC. 11, 2:45 P.M. – There are at least two victims in a shooting that occurred near Parham and Three Chopt roads in Henrico’s Near West End, according to Henrico Police. Both were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries, police said.

The shooting happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Friday just off Parham Road near Michael Road. Police closed northbound lanes of Parham north of Three Chopt Road as they investigated the area with a heavy presence of officers. They were still seeking the suspect or suspects shortly before 3 p.m.

Schools in the immediate vicinity of the area, including Tuckahoe Middle, Freeman High and Ridge Elementary, went into “lock and hide mode” briefly, according to Henrico Schools spokesman Andy Jenks, though only a limited number of faculty members and students were inside. Three Chopt Elementary also went on lockdown, and Jackson Davis Elementary received a police presence, Jenks told the Citizen.

Police are urging citizens to stay away from the area as their investigation continues.
