M&T Bank to close Lakeside branch

The Lakeside branch of M&T Bank will close June 6, according to a company official. The company also will close a branch in Fredericksburg the same week. The moves come as the result of slower traffic at the branches, as more customers use mobile and online banking, M&T regional spokesman Philip Hosmer told the Citizen.
Lakeside customers will be able to bank at M&T's location several miles away at 3124 West Broad Street, Hosmer said.
Typical M&T bank branches have three to seven employees, he said. The employees affected by the Lakeside closure will receive priority for filling other branch positions. The company expects to retain a majority of the employees affected, Hosmer said.
