Moody Middle School seventh-grader London Hart was so moved by protests in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd that she decided to find her own way to help.

“I’ve seen tons of protests about discrimination against the black community, and it inspired me to create art in support of fighting for equality,” Hart said. “I began painting and wanted to find a way to share the message with others and raise money for Black Lives Matter at the same time.”

So, she found a local printing company – Bonfire – to print her paintings on t-shirts and is selling them online to donate all proceeds to the movement.

During the first 24 hours, she sold more than 160 shirts and generated more than $700. Thursday, the total surpassed $1,000.

“I’m really excited about being able to give back to a great cause,” she said.
