Monacan pounds out steady beat in win over James River – Midlothian 54-53

Monacan wasted no time, pushing in front and finishing in the same fashion during this 54-53 victory over James River – Midlothian at Monacan High on January 18 in Virginia girls high school basketball action.

James River – Midlothian rallied in the final quarter, but Monacan skirted trouble with just enough offense to thwart all hopes.

The Chiefs’ leg-up showed as they carried a 44-39 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Chiefs’ shooting jumped to a 34-27 lead over the Rapids at halftime.

The Rapids authored a promising start, taking advantage of the Chiefs 16-14 at the end of the first quarter.
