Modlin Center offers free tickets to furloughed government workers

The Modlin Center for the Arts at the University of Richmond is offering free tickets to select performances for federal employees affected by the government shutdown.

Workers with an official identification can attend the following performances:

• Jan. 25 – Mark Morris Dance Group;
• Jan. 26 – Mark Morris Dance Group;
• Feb. 1 – Sounds of China;
• Feb. 7 – Daniil Trifonov, piano;
• Feb. 10 – Bolshoi Ballet Broadcast: La Sylphide;
• Feb. 14 – NT Live Broadcast: I’m Not Running;
• Feb. 22 – South Asian Connections featuring Richmond Symphony;
• Mar. 6 – Mayumana, Currents (at the Dominion Energy Center);
• Mar. 8 – Banda Magda;
• Mar. 10 – Bolshoi Ballet Broadcast: The Sleeping Beauty;
• Mar. 10 – TheaterWorksUSA, The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System;
• Mar. 20 – The Pigeoning;
• Mar. 23 – Batsheva Dance Company, Venezuela (at the Dominion Energy Center).

Government employees can claim up to two free adult and two free child tickets per performance by presenting their federal I.D. at the Modlin Center box office for events occurring at the Modlin Center. For events occurring at the Dominion Energy Center – Mayumana, Currents and Batsheva Dance Company,Venezuela – tickets can be retrieved in advance from the Altria Theater box office at 6 North Laurel Street in Richmond, or the Dominion Energy Center box office on the night of the performance.
