Rachel Muminovic of Glen Allen recently earned an Award of Excellence at Western Governors University College of Health Professions in Salt Lake City, Utah. The award is given to students who perform at a superior level in their coursework.


Governor Ralph Northam recently announced an additional appointment to his administration: Apprenticeship Council – Jameo Pollock of Henrico, statewide technical training manager, Virginia Department of Transportation.


The following local students recently graduated from the University of Alabama: Edwin Martin and Emilie Saksvig, of Henrico; and Mackenzie O’Barr, of Glen Allen. The graduates each received a bachelor of science.


The following local students recently were inducted into the Order of the Gown at the University of the South in Tennessee: Feihan Yu, of Glen Allen; and Whitney Eleanor Dyke, Alexander Joseph DiNardo and Elizabeth Shumate Read, of Henrico. The Order of the Gown is an academic honor society and a unique student government body among U.S. colleges and universities. The wearing of the gown is both a sign of academic achievement and a promise to continue the ideals and traditions of the University.


Virginia Irby of Henrico graduated magna cum laude May 17 from Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. Irby, a graduate of Douglas S. Freeman High School, received a bachelor of arts degree in Peace and Conflict Studies.
