Phi Kappa Phi, a collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, recently awarded a Love of Learning Award worth $500 to Joseph A. Picone of Henrico. Love of Learning Awards are designed to help fund post-baccalaureate professional development for active Phi Kappa Phi members. Recipients are chosen based on academic achievement, campus and community service, intended use of award funds as it relates to academic and career goals, and a personal statement. Picone, a Ph.D. candidate at Virginia Commonwealth University, will use his funds to research resources. He was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi at VCU in 2021.


James Boyd of Henrico recently joined the Hamilton College Class of 2026. Boyd is a graduate of St. Christopher’s School.


Talman Woodson Ramsey of Henrico was inducted into the Order of the Gown at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., during a ceremony Sept. 16. The Order of the Gown is an academic honor society and unique student government body that is responsible for maintaining the spirit, traditions and ideals of the University of the South. Ramsey is the son of Armistead T. and C. Wright Ramsey.
