Phi Kappa Phi, a collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, recently initiated the following local students: Ali Alsuhibani and Manish Pradhan, of Glen Allen; and Gavin Attaway, Benjamin Cassidy, Joseph Chambers, Elizabeth Dooley, Salim Habchi, Sarah Johnson, Alexis Mabry, Paul McIntosh, Reagan Overeem, Peter Pfohl, Christeena Rai, Kendall Rodier, Holly Steverson, Lindsey Williams and Brianna Young, of Henrico and Sean Sukol, of Richmond. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.


Two local James Madison University students are participating in an alternative fall break, spending the week serving others while living simply and submerging themselves in the culture of their surroundings. Amanda Weitzenhofer of Glen Allen volunteered with Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity. Julia Meyer of Henrico volunteered with Shenandoah National Park.


Jackson Wicker of Henrico has been named a Bridgewater College Men’s Lacrosse team captain for 2024. Wicker, a junior, has played in nearly every game in his first two seasons with Bridgewater as a short stick defensive midfielder. He had nine caused turnovers last year with one goal and 25 ground balls. Bridgewater finished 2023 with an 8-8 record and hosted the first-round games of the ODAC Tournament for a second straight season.


Ab Bullock of Henrico will perform in the McDaniel College Theatre Arts department's production of “Urinetown, The Musical” Nov. 16-18. Bullock is a freshman.
