Candyce Brock of Sandston was named to the summer 2024 dean’s list at Mercy College of Ohio. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.3 grade point average for the semester and be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours. Brock is pursuing a BS in Nursing—Completion.


Talvis Kaiser and Elson Edmonds of Henrico recently graduated from University of Maryland Global Campus. Kaiser earned a master of Business Administration. Edmonds earned a master of science in Cybersecurity Technology.


McDaniel College in Westminster, Md. recently awarded A.J. Mears of Henrico a Military Legacy Scholarship valued at $132,000 or $33,000 annually over four years. All military veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their children can apply for this guaranteed scholarship to attend McDaniel College. It is among the largest scholarships offered at the school. Mears is a graduate of Varina High School.


Earl Wilkerson Jr. of Henrico recently was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, a collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Wilkerson is a student at University of Maryland Global Campus. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.


The Bridgewater College Chorale will perform at the 2024 Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) Conference, which will be held in Norfolk Nov. 21-23. Local BC Chorale members include Alison Nickels and Robert Rhoden of Glen Allen and Parker Sale of Henrico. Performing groups have to apply and only two slots are available for college choral performances. During their performance, the Chorale will sing Christopher Tin's "Sogno di Volare," which the group previously performed at New York City's Carnegie Hall in June.
