Richmond International Airport Safety Manager Kevin N. McDaniel has been named an Accredited Airport Executive by the American Association of Airport Executives. To qualify for the title, McDaniel had to successfully complete three phases of the accreditation process, which included passing a 180-item multiple-choice examination, fulfilling a writing requirement, and demonstrating during a final interview by a panel of AAEs, his knowledge of airport management, business administration, and general transportation economics. Fewer than 8% of AAAE’s members throughout the country are active accredited airport executives.


The following local students graduated in May from the University of Georgia: Carter Payne Gilson, Gabrielle Elizabeth Ramus, Anne Mason Montague Ruth, Emma Catherine Stefanik, Aidan Michael Fitzgerald, Katherine Alice Yarbrough and Margaret Ewing Yarbrough, of Henrico; and Caroline Ann Parlantieri, of Glen Allen.


The following local students graduated April 29 from Bridgewater College in Virginia: Sherie Davis, Joshua Nuckols, Trey Peebles and Colby Uzel, of Henrico; and Santia Fields and Gianna High, of Glen Allen.


The following local students graduated in May from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky.: Harshkumar Brahmbhatt, Parimala Jyothi Mandalapu and Bhanuprakash Paruchuri, of Henrico; and Hanna Anusha Kanithi, of Glen Allen.


The following local students recently earned an Award of Excellence at Western Governors University: Christopher Morris, Arielle Ford, Cerese Lopez, Sidd Soundar and Erika Felder, of Henrico; and Heidi Skaik, Kerry Donohue, Maranita Peterson, Stephanie Bennett and Youjin Ro, of Glen Allen. The award is given to students who perform at a superior level in their coursework.


Andrew Baker of Glen Allen and Kathryn Carithers of Henrico were named to the spring 2023 president’s list at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C. To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher. Baker is a freshman Business Administration major and Carithers is a senior Music major. Alexander Carithers of Henrico was named to the spring 2023 dean’s list at BJU. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.00-3.74 grade point average for the semester. Carithers is a sophomore Media Technology major.


The following local students were named to the spring 2023 dean’s list at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn.: Charlotte Harrison, Graham Powell and John Whitlock, of Henrico; and Victoria Hughes and Mia Salvi, of Glen Allen. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a quality grade point average of 3.5 for the semester.


Nia Boyd of Henrico was named to the spring 2023 dean’s list at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Va. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Boyd is majoring in Art, Writing Studies.
