Jane Wilton of Henrico graduated May 22 from Curry College in Milton, Mass.


McKenzie Reams of Henrico was named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Va.


Sylvia Gale

Sylvia Gale, executive director of the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement at the University of Richmond, has been awarded a Mid-Career Professional Development Award from the Fulbright Finland Foundation to study an innovative civic engagement model in Helsinki, Finland. Fulbright’s mid-career grants allow professionals in various fields to take a sabbatical leave of four to five months to pursue further education or training that would enhance their professional development and the field at large. The funding supports a monthly stipend and travel expenses. Gale will complete this fellowship from January to June 2023. Her experiences will be chronicled in a blog available on the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement’s website.


The following local students recently graduated from The College of Charleston in South Carolina: Olivia Herndon and Andrew Bradt, of Glen Allen; and Annette Thalhimer and Emma Nester, of Henrico. Herndon, Bradt and Thalhimer earned bachelor of arts degrees in Communication and Nester earned a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration.


The following local students graduated in May from the University of Vermont: Isabella Adelhoch (BS in Professional Nursing), of Glen Allen; and Tucker Diveley (BS in Environmental Sciences) and Olivia McLean (MS in Medical Science), of Henrico.


Diana L. Marzouk, daughter of Latif and Suzan Marzouk of Glen Allen, graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) with a doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree on May 28. While at WVSOM, Marzouk was a member of Psi Sigma Alpha, a national osteopathic scholastic honor society, and Sigma Sigma Phi, a national honorary osteopathic service fraternity. She received silver T.O.U.C.H. (Translating Osteopathic Understanding Into Community Health) recognition for community service. Marzouk earned a bachelor of science degree in Health Sciences and Kinesiology from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2016. She is a 2013 graduate of Glen Allen High School. She plans to enter a neurology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.


Vidya Mastriyana of Henrico was named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Berea College in Kentucky. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.4 or higher.


Sheeba Kuriakose of Glen Allen recently graduated with a master of science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.


Hannah Smith of Henrico was named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.4 or higher.


Collin Murphy of Glen Allen and Sophia Goldin of Henrico were named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Murphy is majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Goldin is majoring in Civil Engineering. Both are members of the Class of 2024.


Ryan Messinger of Henrico was one of 19 members of the 2022 James Madison University Collegiate Wind Competition team that took third place overall among university teams from across the country. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, the 2022 CWC focused on siting, outreach and development challenges associated with fixed-bottom offshore wind energy projects. JMU was one of 12 teams that developed project plans, collaborated with industry experts and engaged with their local communities. The competition culminated at the American Clean Power Association's CLEANPOWER 2022 Conference & Exhibition, where the teams tested their models in a wind tunnel and presented their work to a panel of wind energy experts.
