The following students from Henrico County were named to the spring 2020 honors list at Mary Baldwin University: Avera Pearson, Alexandra Wright, McKayla Cotton, Louis Altman and Jayla Bradby. To earn this recognition, students must earn a grade point average of 3.75 to 4.00 for the semester.


The following area students graduated May 24 from Mary Baldwin University: Kourtney Alexandria Goodman, Leslie Tamon Comer, Jay Cropper and Tammy L. Morris, of Henrico; and Eliza Cook, of Sandston.


Niajah Spruill of Henrico was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa May 24 at Mary Baldwin University. To be elected to PBK, a student must have demonstrated a commitment to the pursuit of excellence in the liberal arts and sciences, and eligibility requirements include a high GPA, foreign language, mathematics, and laboratory science.


Allison Lovell of Henrico was named to the spring 2020 dean’s list at University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher.


The following students from Henrico County graduated May 16 from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va.: Erin Roukous, Joshua Hyde and Christopher Melton.


Vijay Chowdhry of Glen Allen and Kierra McNair of Henrico graduated in May from the University of Iowa. Chowdhry earned a master of science in Business Analytics. McNair earned a bachelor of science in Radiation Sciences.


The following area students were named to the spring 2020 dean’s list at the College of Charleston in S.C.: Heather Smith, Laura Wallace and Ashley Dowd, of Henrico; and Olivia Herndon, of Glen Allen. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.60 or higher.


Alexander Edward Tarr of Sandston was named to the spring 2020 dean’s list at Iowa State University. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Tarr is majoring in Architecture-Professional.


The Virginia Federation of Republican Women elected a new leadership team for the 2020-22 term at its first-ever virtual convention June 6. Among the newly elected officers was Virginia “Ginny” Carlson of Henrico, who was appointed corresponding secretary.
