Irena Cekarska of Henrico recently graduated magna cum laude from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Cekarska earned a bachelor of science degree in Respiratory Care.


Martha Schultz of Henrico graduated magna cum laude May 7 from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan. Schultz earned a bachelor of science degree in Health Information Management.


Madeleine Foteu and Joyce Rusincovitch of Henrico were named to the spring 2022 honor’s list at Mercy College of Ohio. To qualify for the honor’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.3 or higher. Foteu is pursuing a BS in Medical Imaging. Rusincovitch is pursuing a BS in Nursing (RN-BSN Completion).


Gavin Jones of Henrico was named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or higher. Jones is majoring in Business Administration and Finance.


Garrett Cox of Glen Allen was named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Hood College in Frederick, Md. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.


The following local students were named to the spring 2022 president’s list at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va.: Madeline Berkle, of Glen Allen; and Chelsea Goode, Dori Mouris, Alison Primich and Evan Walker, of Henrico. To be eligible for the president’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher.


Noah Adams and Cassidy Holmes of Henrico were named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.


Alexander Edward Tarr of Sandston was named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Iowa State University. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Tarr is pursuing an Architecture-Professional degree.


Jane Wilton of Henrico was named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Curry College in Milton, Mass.


Nolan Raike of Glen Allen and Clare Murphy of Henrico were named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.


The following students from Henrico County graduated May 7 from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.: Caroline Alexandra Smyth, Molly Katherine Wheeler (magna cum laude), Elizabeth Marshall Anthony, Edward Fiscus Cole IV and Anna Foster Sherrill.


Ava Michaux, Stephen Edds and John Whitlock of Henrico were named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.


Françoise Ravaux-Kirkpatrick, University of Richmond professor of French and film studies, has been awarded the rank of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters, one of the main distinctions among the four ministerial orders of France. This distinction, awarded by the Minister of Culture, rewards those who have distinguished themselves by their creations in the artistic or literary field. Ravaux-Kirkpatrick, who has taught at UR since 1973, studies and teaches contemporary French literature and culture, French film, and semiotics, the study of signs and symbols. Ravaux-Kirkpatrick is co-director of the acclaimed French Film Festival, which just celebrated its 28th year. The festival, held in Richmond, has welcomed more than 900 directors, screenwriters, actors, cinematographers, music composers, and artists-technicians and introduced more than 800 French and francophone films to American audiences.
