Aaron Fowlkes of Glen Allen completed New York Institute of Technology’s rigorous Internship Certificate Program during the spring 2024 semester. Fowlkes earned valuable hands-on experience in the role of photography editor at Giving Forward.


Anne Ross Hope of Henrico was named to the spring 2024 honor roll at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn. To be named to the honor roll, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or higher.


Eli Schwartz and Hank Shield of Henrico were named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Rhodes College. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.70 or higher.


The following local students recently graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York: Ricky Chen (BS in Mechanical Engineering) and Shwetha Subramanian (MS in Human-Computer Interaction), of Henrico; and Hongfei Zhu (BS in Game Design and Development), of Glen Allen.


Hanna Cillo and Walker Cummins of Henrico graduated May 19 from Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. Cillo, an Art and Biology major, graduated cum laude with departmental honors in art and biology. Cummins majored in Philosophy.


Charlotte Racine of Henrico was named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.92 or higher.


The following local students graduated with honors May 30 from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va.: Ian Kukar Kinney (cum laude, Environmental Studies major), Elizabeth Grace Sjovold (magna cum laude, Biochemistry major) and Charlotte Camilla Margaret Peete (magna cum laude, Mathematics major), of Henrico; and Ashwin Suresh (magna cum laude, Accounting major), of Glen Allen.


The following local students graduated May 30 from Washington and Lee University: Thomas Nelson Peters Lamb, Claire Adams Herrington, Alexander Fleming Mayer and Kathryn Walker Miller, of Henrico; and Andrew Harris Larsen, of Glen Allen.


Gov. Glenn Youngkin recently announced additional key administration and board appointments: Board of Visitors of Radford University – The Honorable Betsy D. Beamer of Henrico, director of planning and organization at McGuireWoods Consulting; Board of Visitors of Virginia Commonwealth University – The Honorable Siobhan Dunnavant, MD, FACOG of Henrico, former member of Virginia State Senate, 12th District.
