Santia Fields of Glen Allen was awarded the Michael Robert “M.R.” Zigler Service Award during a ceremony April 15 at Bridgewater College in Virginia. The award, presented for exceptional off-campus community service, is named for a peace advocate, ecumenist and humanitarian from the BC class of 1916. Fields is co-president of the Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honor society, Phi Alpha Theta and the community service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. In addition, she is president of Model United Nations, an academic tutor, and a member of the Honor Council. Fields is teaching post-graduation and hopes to later obtain a master's degree in history to work in a museum.


Caroline Boyd of Henrico graduated May 21 with a bachelor of arts degree in Literature from Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. Boyd graduated with departmental honors in Literature. Boyd completed a literature thesis titled, “The Anxiety of the Patriarchy: Eugenides' Faulknerian Inspiration and Critique of the Patriarchy in The Virgin Suicides,” and a literature honors presentation titled, “$eeking the $ublime: The Commodification of Romanticism in Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air.”


Emily Kinsey of Glen Allen and Grayson Rogers and Maillie Semp of Henrico were named to the spring 2023 president’s list at the University of Alabama. To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average for the semester.


The following local students were named to the spring 2023 dean’s list at the University of Alabama: Steele Vantre, of Glen Allen; and Ryan Snook, Stewart Berling, James Campbell, Madeleine Miller, Caroline Porterfield, Taylor Shumadine, Brude Stoever and Kendall Whitaker, of Henrico. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.


The following local students recently graduated from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.: Grana Ali, Jomel Caguicla, Kathryn DeBusk, Adam Elwood, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Molly Goodman, Andrew Jordan, Mary King, Cameron Lynch, Zainab Rahman, Zachary Snyder and Stefan Yu, of Glen Allen; Cameron Beck, Madeline Brookman, Maura Graff, Krisuan Johnson, Andrew Kossan, Kendall Lynch, Lacey McRoberts, Adam Pleasants, Caitlynn Quigley, Jerome Snesil, Alejandra Sullivan, Ni'Dajah Bolden, Ruby Chase, Alton Coston, Madeline Dovi, Cori Ingram and Peyton Proffitt, of Henrico; and Dylan Colgin, of Sandston.


Gianni Peebles of Henrico recently graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Northern Colorado.


Muhammad Abdullah Raja of Henrico will attend the New York Institute of Technology in fall 2023. Raja plans to major in Architecture.
