Emily Kinsey of Glen Allen recently graduated with a bachelor of arts in Communication & Information Sciences from the University of Alabama.


The following local students were named to the fall 2023 president’s list at the College of Charleston in South Carolina: Madalyn Rutherford, of Glen Allen; and Michael Stein, John Edmonds, Austin King, Joseph Huberman, Jane Featherstone, Madelyn Akins, Madeline Landa and Sara Lyons, of Henrico. To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.800 or higher.


The following local students were named to the fall 2023 dean’s list at the College of Charleston in South Carolina: Fraser Melton and Margaret O’Neill, of Glen Allen; and Reed Haneberg, Madelyn Patrick, Emma Fredenburg, Elizabeth Krey, Jenna Stern and Lily Slye, of Henrico. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.500 or higher.

The following students from Henrico County were named to the fall 2023 dean’s list at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.: Divine Luhere, Joellen Konesco, Ava Michaux, Will Lynch and John Whitlock. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.


Jessica Joyce Hays of Glen Allen was named to the fall 2023 dean’s list at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. To qualify for the dean’s list, students in the College of Arts and Sciences must earn a semester grade point average of 3.7 or higher. Hays is a freshman majoring in Psychology.


The following students from Henrico County were named to the fall 2023 dean’s list at the University of Delaware: Neisah Badawy, Izabella Bender, Emma Reed and Katherine Stuckey. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.


Gov. Glenn Youngkin recently announced additional appointments to key state positions: Clean Energy Advisory Board – C. Meade Browder Jr. of Henrico, senior assistant attorney general at the Office of the Attorney General; and Office of New Americans Advisory Board – Cuong Nguyen of Henrico, teacher at Vinh-Son Liem Vietnamese School.
