Montasia Braxton of Henrico was recognized at Radford University Dec. 10 as a Highlander Honors Scholar. Braxton received a medallion to signify graduation from the Honors College. The Highlander Honors Scholar is the highest academic distinction bestowed on undergraduates at Radford. These students complete a 27-credit honors curriculum, publicly present a scholarly capstone project, and achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Braxton majored in Media Studies.


The following local students were named to the fall 2021 dean’s list at Radford University in Virginia: Megan Hanner, Melissa Mowbray, Jacob Hanner, Supreme Bey, Katherine Hess, Makayla Hislop, Jackson Wilbourne, Teona Witherspoon-Barnes, Ashley Nesmith, Ella Selfe, David Sharpe, Megan Burdette and Matthew Mitchell, of Glen Allen; Shyea Ball, of Highland Springs; and Jacob Jennings, Shaneece Smith, Karlis Katlaps, Brianna Miffin, Emily Fournier, Deja Cotman, Kayla Courtney, Mikala Farrar, Carly Snead, Michael Luck, Darryl Fulton, Montasia Braxton, Sarah Lambert, Nyasia Montague, Selamawit Hadis, Marykelly Ozolins, Rebecca Allen and Carmen Trestrail, of Henrico. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.4 or higher.


Grace MacDougall of Glen Allen and Mary Charlotte Sterling of Henrico were named to the fall 2021 dean’s list at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.7 or higher. MacDougall is a sophomore majoring in Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies and Japanese. Sterling is a freshman who graduated from St. Catherine’s School.


Olivia Dimond of Henrico was named to the fall 2021 dean’s list at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.92 or higher. Dimond, a 2018 graduate of Collegiate School, is majoring in Theater and minoring in Education.


Alice Geiger of Henrico was named to the fall 2021 dean’s list at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5-3.899 for the semester. Geiger is majoring in Communication Studies.


The following local students recently earned an Award of Excellence at Western Governors University: Christopher Cooke, of Glen Allen; and Juanita Wilson, Anthony Cox, Gabriella Desmond and Brandon Nguyen, of Henrico. The award is given to students who perform at a superior level in their coursework.


Ann Merithew of Henrico and Olivia Simpson of Glen Allen were named to the fall 2021 chancellor’s honor roll at the University of Mississippi. To qualify for the chancellor’s honor roll, students must earn a grade point average of 3.75-4.00 for the semester.


Rebecca Loupassi of Henrico was named to the fall 2021 dean’s honor roll at the University of Mississippi. To be eligible for the dean’s honor roll, students must earn a grade point average of 3.50-3.74 for the semester.
