The following local students recently earned an Award of Excellence at Western Governor’s University: Van Tabbert, of Glen Allen; and Stef Florie, Raelyn Branch, Mailie Landreth and Jonathan Vaughan, of Henrico. The award is given to students who perform at a superior level in their coursework.


Olivia Dimond of Henrico was named to the dean’s list at Bates College for the winter semester ending in May 2021. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.88 or higher. Dimond, who is majoring in theater and minoring in education, is a 2018 graduate of Collegiate School.


Emaan Mughal of Glen Allen was named to the spring 2021 presidential honor list at New York Institute of Technology. To be eligible for this honor, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.7 or higher.


Gov. Ralph Northam recently announced appointments to his administration: Virginia Asian Advisory Board – Marie Sankaran Raval, MD of Henrico (physician, Virginia Commonwealth University Health System) and Quan Tiet Schneider of Glen Allen (inclusion, diversity and equity manager, Altria Group); Virginia LGBTQ+ Advisory Board – Matt Banfield of Henrico (assistant vice provost, University of Virginia), Aurora Higgs of Henrico (founder and equity builder, Borealis Consulting RVA, LLC), and Stephanie Merlo of Henrico (chapter leader, Minority Veterans of America).


Theresa Haney of Henrico was named to the 2021 dean’s list at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. Comprised annually, the Union College dean’s list honors students who have a grade point average of 3.5 for the entire academic year and meet certain other requirements. Haney is a member of the class of 2024 majoring in Managerial Economics.


Pavan Sai Vasireddy of Henrico recently graduated with a master of science in Computer Science from Wichita State University in Kansas.


Abigail Baucom of Henrico was named to the spring 2021 dean’s list at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.7 or higher.
