Deshayla Lewis of Henrico recently participated in the James Madison University School of Theatre and Dance's world premiere of “Walls: An American Story.” The production is about a present-day interracial couple and the journey to break down the barriers between them.


Henrico residents Ericka Ellwanger and Walter Spence graduated Dec. 17 from Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina. Ellwanger received a bachelor of arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and Spence received a bachelor of arts in Communication.


The following local students were named to the fall 2019 dean’s list at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina: Jackson Edwards and Cameron Mewhirter, of Glen Allen; and Bailey Hall and Paige Newton, of Henrico. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5-3.99.


The following local students were named to the fall 2019 president’s list at Clemson University in South Carolina: Katelynn Walker Bortz, Sebastian Salour Doppenberg, Abigail Nicole Dwelle, Katie Marie Goodman, Emma Grace Mckenney, Matthew Hamilton Reid, Christine Kimberly Schultz and Clay William Swinger, of Henrico; and Riley Mason Buckenmaier, Hannah K. McLaughlin and Olivia Carter Williams, of Glen Allen. To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 4.0.


The following local students were named to the fall 2019 dean’s list at Clemson University in South Carolina: Zachary H. Appel, Callie Conway Borges, Lauren Elizabeth Bruns, Sarah Frances Cloud, Berkeley Martin Geho, Eliza Anne Himmel, Jane E. Holsten, William Spencer Lyons, Remy S. Schimick and John Conner Thomas, of Henrico; and Holden Layne Davis and Kelsey Neal O’Brien, of Glen Allen. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.50-3.99 for the semester.


Gov. Ralph Northam recently appointed Erica Duncan of Hanover to the Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals. Duncan is superintendent of operations at the Henrico County Water Reclamation Facility. Gov. Northam also appointed Suja Amir and Marie A. Sankaran Ravel, MD of Henrico to the Virginia Asian Advisory Board. Amir is a policy analyst at the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. Raval is a pediatric anesthesiologist and assistant professor of anesthesiology with the Department of Anesthesiology at VCU School of Medicine.


Ryan Davies of Glen Allen and Caroline Davis of Henrico were named to the fall 2019 dean’s list at Hofstra University in New York. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.


Amy Maxwell and Samuel O’Connell of Henrico and Emily Sheppard of Glen Allen graduated in December 2019 from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Maxwell earned a MS in Computer Science and O’Connell earned a BS in Computer Science. Sheppard earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering.


Amina Beasley of Varina was named to the fall 2019 dean’s list at Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher.


Paul Zaner of Henrico graduated with a doctor of chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic's Florida campus in Port Orange, Fla., on Dec. 20, 2019.


Ashley Dowd, Emma Nester and James Featherstone of Henrico were named to the fall 2019 dean’s list at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.600 or higher.


The following local students were named to the fall 2019 dean’s list at Shenandoah University in Virginia: William Griff, Joshua Hyde, Meredith Kennedy, Erin Roukous, Emily Tuck, Emily Vaughan and Emily Wentz, of Henrico; and Zyquis Triplett, of Sandston. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.


Emaan Mughal of Glen Allen was named to the fall 2019 presidential honor list at the New York Institute of Technology. To qualify for the presidential honor list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.7 or higher. Mughal is studying Life Sciences.
