Glen Allen piano teacher Yin Zheng has been inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame — a designation recognizing the work of North America’s most committed and passionate piano educators. Teachers inducted into the Hall of Fame are nominated by a Steinway & Sons showroom in the teacher’s home region. The teachers’ names are displayed on a commemorative wall inside the iconic factory.


Izabelle Addison and Sabrina Simmons of Henrico recently performed in the James Madison University School of Theatre and Dance’s production of “Vinegar Tom.” The play about witches is written by contemporary playwright Caryl Churchill who pushed gender boundaries by advocating for females in lead roles when she entered the British theatre scene in the early 1970s.


The following Henrico County residents recently earned master’s degrees from Western Governors University: Christopher Hall (MBA, Healthcare Management), Karolin Gidley (MS, Special Education), and Janna Wiener (MBA).


Eastern Mennonite University student, Precious Waddy of Henrico, completed a cross cultural study program in Mexico in the summer of 2019. The summer cross cultural program consists of three- or six-week programs in North America or abroad, or a full summer internship in Washington, D.C. EMU's unique requirement for cross cultural learning provides students with the ability to learn about themselves, another culture or country, and gain experiences that they would not get anywhere else.


Samantha Greene of Henrico is a first-year student at Tufts University in Massachusetts.


Gov. Ralph Northam recently reappointed Zipporah Levi-Shackleford of Henrico to the Virginia Interagency Coordinating Council. Levi-Shackleford is founder and behavior and education consultant of Creative Approach Development Center.
