Colin McGarry, of Glen Allen, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester at Ohio Wesleyan University. To earn dean’s list recognition, students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester.


Derrick Reeves, of Sandston, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester at Bethel University in McKenzie, Tenn. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.70 grade point average for the semester.


Emily Hewitt, of Henrico, was named to the president’s list for the fall 2017 semester at Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Ark. To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester.

D’Angelo Brown, of Glen Allen, and Shinique Smith, of Henrico, were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester at SUNY Oneonta. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 or higher grade point average for the semester.


Outgoing Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced an additional appointment to his Administration before leaving office: Gil Grattan, of Henrico, was appointed to the Virginia Agricultural Council. Grattan is president of Virginia Green Lawn Care.


Heather Nicole Jenkins, of Glen Allen, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester at Iowa State University. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.50 grade point average for the semester. Jenkins is a senior majoring in Construction Engineering.


The Marching Royal Dukes at James Madison University marched in the inaugural parade for new Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam Jan. 13 in Richmond. The following area students participated: Joshua Burnap, Eric Fenske, Adam Miller and Halle Harrison, of Glen Allen; and Ashley Lynch, Matthew Baka, Thomas Peery, LaMont Beard, Jordan Womack and Sophie Harrison, of Henrico.


Tierra Simone LeGrande, of Glen Allen, graduated Dec. 18 from Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga. LeGrande received a MBA degree in Human Resource Management.
